Active coastal, interisland and blue water sailor. Cruising and racing experience in US mainland, Hawaii, Caribbean, New Zealand, Polynesia and Europe. Crewed in a Pacific Cup Regatta from San Francisco to Kaneohe, Hawaii. Skippered a sloop from Tahiti to Hawaii. Boat owner in Hawaii with extensive and frequent interisland mileage across challenging channels. Extensive training and experience in navigation and night sailing. Trained while living in Europe with the UK Royal Yachting Association at facilities in Portugal and Spain. Good team player, strong boat and crew management skills, avid hiker and traveler, retired US Air Force Colonel. Certified as a Remote Emergency Medical Technician with added USCG recognized qualification of Medical Person In Charge.

engine). The Curriculum emphasized Yacht management, skippering skills, boat handling,
general seamanship, navigation, safety awareness and knowledge of the collision
regulations, meteorology and signals.

CHRONOLOGY

1983 Started sailing dinghies on the Panama Canal while assigned to Howard Air Base
2001 Chartered and skippered in New Zealand a Nolex 25 sailboat for a four-day cruise among
the Bay of Islands.
2000 Joined the Kaneohe Yacht Club in 2000 and became actively involved in offshore racing,
Cal 20 racing, race committee, and Hawaiian island cruising. Sailed as well Capri 22's and
Rhodes 19.
2002 Chartered and skippered a Beneteau 35 in French Polynesia for a ten-day cruise to Bora
Bora, Raiatea, and Tahaa
2003 Communications staff for Trans Pac Los Angeles to Honolulu Race
2003-04 Member of the Pentagon Sailing Club in Washington DC. Raced on the Potomac,
and did overnight cruises on the Chesapeake Bay. Served as basic sailing instructor
2004-08 Member of an IRC racing team on a Jeanneau 39 racing weekly in Lisbon, Portugal and
along the nearby coast
2004-08 Chartered and skippered several times a Bavaria 37 for cruises along the Algarve Coast of
southern Portugal
2005 Sailed Kornati Islands of Croatia as crew on a Nauticat 38 for one week
2006 Sailed From Mutter Croatia to Dubrovnik and back as crew on a Nauticat 38 for ten days
2007 Skippered a Bavaria 37 in the Bay of Gocek, Turkey during a one week charter
2008 Skippered a Hanse 40 on sail trips between the Spanish Canary Islands of Tenerife, La
Gomera, and La Palma during a 30 day period
2010 Crewed on a Standfast 40 during Pacific Cup 2010, raced for 12 days from San Francisco to
Hawaii
2010-14 Chairman, Kaneohe Yacht Club Membership Committee
2010-16 Co-Chair of the Kaneohe Yacht Club Cruising Fleet; organized and led cruising flotillas on
interisland cruises
2011-13 Board Member Kaneohe Yacht Club
2012 Own and skipper a Beneteau 393 since 2012 to present. Skippered this vessel while
cruising interisland in Tahiti, Moorea and Society Islands. Skippered the boat and a crew of
four while crossing from Tahiti to Hawaii in 2012 during a three-week non-stop voyage of
2,500 miles.
2012-
Present Skippered numerous Hawaii interisland voyages to Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and return to
Oahu on a Beneteau 39.
2014 End of Race Compliance Inspector for Pacific Cup race from San Francisco to Kaneohe
2014 Skippered an interislandcruise in the Hawaiian Islands from Oahu to the Big Island and back
as well as from Oahu to Kauai on own Beneteau 39; over 700 miles of sailing in challenging
Hawaiian channels
2014 Weekend sails out of Boqueron, Puerto Rico on a 35 ft sloop
2016 Led a Kaneohe Yacht Club 15-boat cruising flotilla from Oahu across the Kaiwi channel to
the island of Molokai on a three-day outing.
